Singapore, despite being the smallest country in Southeast Asia, feels like stepping into a futuristic city. With its mix of modern architecture, lush green parks, and vibrant cultural spots, it ranks among the cleanest cities in the world. Once part of Malaysia until 1965, Singapore has become a hub of innovation and culture. Its excellent public transport makes it easy to explore, and here’s a 2-day guide to some of the best things to do in this fascinating city. 1.Cloud Forest – A Must-See in Singapore Part of the city’s "Garden City" concept, the Cloud Forest is housed inside a glass dome and looks like it’s straight out of a sci-fi movie. As you step into the dome, you’re greeted by a 35-meter-high waterfall surrounded by mist. Inside, you’ll find a variety of rare plants from around the world, creating a lush, tropical experience. 2.Supertree Grove – Gardens by the Bay At Gardens by the Bay, you’ll find the iconic Supertrees – 18 towering man-made trees that showcase the perfect balance between nature and technology. Two of the trees are connected by a massive walking bridge, offering stunning views of the gardens and cityscape. You can also explore the area at ground level, soaking in the peaceful surroundings. 3.Walk Down Haji Lane Haji Lane is one of the most creative and quirky neighborhoods in Singapore. It’s filled with hip clothing shops, trendy coffee houses, and quirky souvenir stores. This vibrant street attracts both locals and tourists, making it the perfect place to shop, hang out, or grab a bite to eat. 4.Discover Little India Singapore’s multiculturalism shines through in Little India, a colorful district that offers an authentic slice of India. As you stroll down the streets, you'll be enveloped by the scent of spices and the hustle and bustle of sari shops, Indian street food vendors, and flower garland stalls – all contributing to the lively atmosphere of this unique area. 5.Marina Bay Sands Water Show After visiting the Supertree Grove, take a walk towards the Marina Bay Sands hotel, the iconic structure that features a boat perched on top. Inside, you’ll find a spectacular water and light show that will take your breath away. The impressive performance is a fusion of water, light, and sound, creating a truly unforgettable experience. 6.Chinatown Singapore's Chinatown is a bustling area offering a mix of delicious street food, beautiful temples, and great shopping opportunities. For affordable and unique souvenirs, head over to Pagoda Street, where you'll find everything from trinkets to traditional crafts that make perfect gifts for family and friends. 7.Lunch at Trendy Cafes Singapore boasts a wide range of trendy cafes where you can enjoy a great breakfast or lunch. These cafes are perfect for digital nomads as they offer excellent Wi-Fi and a comfortable environment to work in. For top-notch coffee and breakfasts, visit Common Man Coffee Roasters. If you're in the mood for something more adventurous, Symmetry offers unique dishes, while Positano Risto at Haji Lane serves delicious pizza.

Hidden Gems in Thailand You Shouldn't Overlook in 2025 While Bangkok's Grand Palace and Phuket's beaches might dominate most Thailand travel itineraries, some of Thailand's most remarkable treasures are best unearthed with a guide on a group tour. Here's a glimpse of the hidden gems our tours reveal: Wat Pho by Boat: Experience the iconic Temple of the Reclining Buddha in a whole new light. Board a riverboat and watch as Bangkok's chaotic skyline gradually gives way to the peaceful temple grounds as you draw near. The serene ambience of Wat Pho and its magnificent golden statue make it a highlight of any travel bucket list, but it's the peaceful journey there that makes you feel as if you've stepped back in time to a different era of Thailand. Chiang Mai's Northern Cuisine Food Tour: Thai street food is already legendary, but Chiang Mai's Lanna cuisine takes it to an even higher plane. Set aside Pad Thai for a while and immerse yourself in a world of spicy sausages, rich khao soi, and distinctive local flavours. Join our guided food tour and sample hidden culinary delights that even some locals are unaware of. Chang Chill Elephant Sanctuary: Ethical elephant tourism is on the ascendancy, and Chang Chill is at the forefront. Spend a day in the company of these gentle giants in their natural habitat—no bathing or riding here. It's an experience that lingers in the memory and is a perfect addition to any 2025 Thailand travel plan. Hill Trek in Doi Inthanon National Park: Often overshadowed by more popular trekking routes, this area is one of Thailand's most spectacular hidden gems. Trek through lush forests, visit the King and Queen Pagodas, and discover the warm hospitality of the Karen people. This trek combines breathtaking scenery with meaningful cultural encounters, a must for any adventurous traveller's bucket list. The Beachside Bliss of Ao Nang: Nestled along Krabi's stunning coastline, Ao Nang is a blissful paradise that seems like a well-kept secret waiting to be found. With its dramatic limestone cliffs, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and laid-back atmosphere, it's a dream destination for those yearning for sun-drenched adventures. Ao Nang offers more than just beach relaxation (although you'll definitely want to set aside time for that!); it's also your gateway to iconic Thai experiences. Explore the emerald lagoons of Hong Island, marvel at the beauty of the Phi Phi Islands, or venture to Phra Nang Cave, a mystical seaside treasure. Make sure to set aside some time to paddle through serene mangrove forests and along the limestone cliff coast for panoramic views of the Andaman Sea. Why 2025 is an Ideal Year to Visit Thailand Thailand is in a constant state of evolution, but 2025 holds a special allure. The Thrilling Crouching Lion Hike

The Thrilling Crouching Lion Hike

Emily Johnson

The Crouching Lion hike may be short, but it’s an incredibly steep and challenging trail that rewards adventurers with spectacular views of Kahana Bay, Kaaawa, and the majestic Pu’u Manamana ridge. From the very start, the trail steeply ascends, guaranteeing that you'll break a sweat as you navigate over twisted tree roots and duck under low-hanging branches. As you continue your climb, the path becomes progressively more paved, but be prepared for slippery stretches, especially after heavy rain. While it’s definitely an adventurous trail with a touch of danger, the stunning vistas make it worthwhile. The first notable landmark on the trail is the pillbox, which you’ll encounter early on. It only takes about ten minutes to reach this point, where you can climb atop the pillbox and take in the view of Kahana Bay. Here, you'll also find a vibrant mural of 'Aloha' painted in red, orange, and green. The panoramic view from this point is already breathtaking. After leaving the pillbox, we explored several smaller paths leading toward rock formations and the cliff's edge. We discovered hidden caves along the cliffs that added to the sense of adventure. The trail continues across a broad ridge with remarkable views—Kaaawa stretches to the left, while Kahana Bay unfolds to the right. Be cautious if you decide to explore the caves or rock ledges, as the area is rocky and crumbly. As you continue along the ridge, you’ll come across a small clearing that overlooks Kahana Bay. This is where the iconic "Crouching Lion" rock formation appears. From the right angle, the formation resembles a lion lying down, which is how the hike gets its name. You’ll spot this unique rock on your left as you move toward a larger clearing. Crouching Lion Hike: Short Route The short route starts from a trailhead located between a 'Do Not Pass' sign and a telephone pole, though it's not clearly marked. At first, it may seem like the trail heads straight into thick bushes, but after a few steps, you'll begin to see the path open up. When we hiked this route, we saw a number of small groups along the way, confirming we were on the right track. This popular and easy-to-follow route takes you through lush undergrowth to the main viewpoint. It’s much quicker than the longer route and is the preferred choice for most hikers. We parked a few hundred meters down the road from the trailhead, on the right side of the road coming from Honolulu. The trailhead itself is on the left side of the road. Crouching Lion Hike: Long Route For a more extensive adventure, you can take the longer route starting at Swanzy Beach Park. From there, walk up Huamalani Road to find the trailhead. The Crouching Lion trail can be tricky in spots, but trail markers, often in the form of ribbons, usually guide the way. This route follows the Pu’u Manamana Ridge and is part of the larger Kahakili-Manamana loop, which takes about 4 to 5 hours to complete. It’s important to note that this route is significantly more dangerous. The drop-offs are incredibly steep, and the terrain can be hazardous, claiming the lives of some hikers in the past. If you choose this route, it’s highly recommended to do so with a local guide familiar with the trail, as the path can be difficult to navigate without prior experience.

6 Must-Visit Hot Springs in Iceland

6 Must-Visit Hot Springs in Iceland

David Smith

After a long, cold day of exploring the wonders of Iceland, nothing beats unwinding in a natural hot spring. The Icelandic experience is incomplete without taking a dip in one of its many geothermal pools or natural hot springs. Iceland's abundant access to both hot and cold water makes it an ideal destination for hot spring lovers. Here are six of the best hot springs you should definitely visit while in Iceland. 1.Blue Lagoon – Iceland’s Most Famous Geothermal Pool By far the most iconic geothermal pool in Iceland, the Blue Lagoon is world-renowned for its milky blue waters and rejuvenating properties. Located near Reykjavik, this stunning spot should not be missed. Its unique silica mud is not only therapeutic for the skin but also offers an unforgettable experience amidst a volcanic landscape. 2.Hrunalaug – The Hidden Gem Tucked away behind a small village, just 1.5 hours from Reykjavik, Hrunalaug is a picturesque and secret natural hot spring. It’s a peaceful retreat where up to 15 people can enjoy the warmth of the geothermal waters, usually without the crowds. Be sure to leave a donation in the fee box when you visit. It's a must-do for those looking for a quiet and authentic experience. 3.Hofsos Infinity Pool – A Pool with a View In the far northwest of Iceland, Hofsos offers one of the most beautiful infinity pools with a spectacular view over the fjords and Drangey Island. The hot swimming pool, hot tubs, and clean shower facilities are all available for a modest fee of 900 ISK ($8). It’s an excellent spot to unwind while taking in the dramatic scenery. Tip: The camping site is only a 3-minute walk from the pool! 4.Myvatn Nature Baths – A More Affordable Blue Lagoon Alternative Located in northern Iceland, Mývatn Nature Baths offer a similar experience to the Blue Lagoon but at a fraction of the price. Surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, this geothermal pool is perfect for those who want to relax in warm waters while enjoying the views. While it's smaller than the Blue Lagoon, it's still a fantastic place to unwind. 5.Landbrotalaug – A Secluded Hot Spring Located at the beginning of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, Landbrotalaug is a small, secluded natural hot spring. This hidden gem is a bit tricky to find, but Google Maps will guide you there. The spring has two pools: a smaller one that fits four people, and a larger one on the opposite side where the pump is located. 6.Seljavallalaug – The Oldest Swimming Pool in Iceland Located between the famous Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls, Seljavallalaug is a historic and secluded swimming pool. It’s one of the oldest pools in Iceland, hidden from the main road and requiring a 15-minute hike to reach. The pool is maintained through donations, so it’s always appreciated if visitors leave a small gift.
